Unfortunately, the school board does not provide a Java Development Environment.
The Dr. Java IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is freely available for download, and can be used at both home and school.
- Browse to the official Dr. Java site.
- Download the Windows App (EXE File) for the latest stable release.
Save to your P: drive. For example, P:\00 ICSxx\Java
- Download a file from this wiki, called In.class [download].
Some problems have been seen with In.class. Here is the source code, In.java.
Save to the same location as the Dr. Java JAR file. For example, P:\00 ICSxx\Java
- Test the In.class using this test program.
Now you will need to configure Dr. Java for daily use.
- Run Dr. Java (double-click on the EXE or JAR file).
- Open the Preferences Window: Edit --> Preferences
- Add the location where you saved the files to the "Extra Classpath". For example, P:\00 ICSxx\Java
- Associate .java files with Dr. Java: Miscellaneous --> File Types
